Staycations

Last week I had my first ever staycation!!

It was the most delicious week ever, particularly because everyone else in the family was out of town!! 😆 Don’t get me wrong, I love my family and at the end of the week I was ready to have them back. But having a week to take care of just myself is exactly what this girl needed!

I spent the week going to a new studio, trying a new Barre3 class with my workout buddy Michele, shopping, reading a book, meditating, gardening, and socializing with my dance mom friends! As Martha Stewart would say, It was a very good thing.❤️

The energy, music, and intensity of this workout is awesome!!

A great and inspiring read. I found myself underlining awesome quotes from this book… “The name of the game is sustainability. And simply put, if it’s too complicated, it’s not sustainable.” -Rich Roll

Waiting for our favorite store to open!! ❤️

Hanging our with my dance mom friends April, Danielle, Melissa, and Diane… I love our Showbiz dance family.

The last several months my focus has been on healing my body with nutrition. This last week reminded me that I need to equally focus on feeding my mind and spirit.

I love starting my day quietly with a cup of water with lemon while I read my devotion, pray, and journal… if even for only 10 minutes, this time is sacred to me.

Without all my regular responsibilities, I was able to indulge myself and stretch this into a couple of hours every morning of peace and quiet. I had many moments of creative ideas surface during this time and decided that I officially love solo staycations and highly recommend them for busy parents who need to recharge 😉.

Today we are vacationing together as a family heading north to Idaho to spend our favorite holiday with friends. We are so thankful for this great country we call home and for the courageous men and women who serve so that we can enjoy our independence.

As for me, I am thrilled to be where I am today. Not in a hospital, but in a car… road tripping with my family. I am thankful that I am learning more everyday about how to fuel my body and fight cancer the right way. It took me a while to get here, but I believe that persistence pays off.

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is on unseen, since what we see is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. ” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Have a Happy Independence Day everyone!

Onward and Upward.
